Kamares

The most recognizable monument of Kavala, is the large arched aqueduct, known as Kamares. The aqueduct was built in the early 16th century, during the Turkish domination, and is probably built on the remnants of Roman and Byzantine aqueduct. The construction of the project was financed by the Ibrahim Pasha and went on for about 10 years.


Panagia

Walking to the narrow streets of the old town, one finds the picturesque side of Kavala.

Imaret

Imaret was built between 1817 - 1821 but took its final form in the mid - 19th century. The project was constructed thanks to Mehmet Ali. Nowadays Imarate operates as a luxury hotel.


Castle Of Kavala

The citadel which dominates the top of the hill of Panagia, was rebuilt on the ruins of an older Byzantine castle around 1530. The castle is open for public and offers a beautiful view of the city.

Statue & Residence of Mehmet Ali

Before the courtyard of the church of Panagia, you will find the statue of Mehmet Ali on his horse. The residence is located near the statue and its open for the public.


Church of Saint Mary (Panagia)

The one and only church for Christians in Kavala until 1864. The building technique of the old building has nothing to do with the older one. The previous church was demolished before 1960.

Lighthouse (Faros)

At the end of the peninsula of Panagia, you can find the lighthouse of the city, which was built between 1880 and 1890. The lighthouse is a famous tourist attraction, providing exceptional panoramic view of the city.

Golden Beach

Golden Beach is, beach with shallow, crystal clear waters, on the east side of the island. It is lively and organized and offers easy access and spacious parking area. The most recognizing characteristic of the beach is the golden color of the sand.


Giola

Giola is a unique beauty, natural, rocky pool. A beach with outstanding beauty that definitely worths a visit, although the path reaching Giola is difficult and requires some walking.

Saliara

A small, exotic beach in the northern part of Thassos, just km away from Limenas. The water is crystal clear and the coast has a stunning white stone. To reach the beach you must drive with attention to a wide dirt road, which leads to a parking area just before the beach.


It is worth noting that there is the option to rent sailing boats to access beaches of exceptional beauty that are characterized by difficult access by land.

Ammoglossa

A lovely sandy beach, which is located in the small peninsula formed in Keramoti. The beach is surrounded by pine groves and offers excellent view of Thassos. The water is shallow and very clean, a fact that makes the beach ideal for families with children.

Excursion to Kavala

Departure in the morning for Kavala, one of the most beautiful cities in Northern Greece. Visit to the Castle with panoramic views, a tour of the picturesque streets of the Panagia district and a photo stop at the impressive Kamares. Lunch follows at the old harbor and free time for a walk or visits to museums. Return to Keramoti and overnight.

Morning departure for Xanthi. Tour of the Old Town with its mansions, cobblestone streets and traditional cafes. Optional visit to folklore or thematic museums. Then transfer to the Straits of Nestos, with a short hike and the opportunity to relax in the unique natural beauty of the river. Return to Keramoti. Overnight.

Departure for Drama, known for its winter atmosphere and the natural landscape of Agia Varvara. Tour of the city center and time for lunch. During the winter period there is the possibility of visiting "Oneiroupolis". Optional visit to the Aggitis Cave (Maara), one of the most impressive in Greece. Return to Keramoti and overnight.

Morning transfer to Thassos by ferry from Keramoti. Tour of the Port of Thassos, visit to the archaeological site and free time for a walk. Then visit to the Monastery of Archangelos, with impressive views of the Aegean. Afternoon return to Keramoti. Overnight.

Tobacco Museum - Kavala
  • A thematic museum that highlights the history of tobacco growing, processing and trade in Kavala. The exhibition includes tools, machinery, archival material and photographic material.
  • It is considered the only museum of its type in Greece / Europe.

Wax Museum (Theodoros Kokkinidis)
  • In Kipia (Kavala), as you have already mentioned.
  • It contains wax figures of famous Greeks and internationals (artists, politicians, etc.).
Train Museum - Drama
  • Located next to the Drama railway station. It exhibits old steam locomotives, carriages (including an Orient Express coach), railway equipment, etc. A nostalgic and “surreal” element for groups interested in transport history.
Folklore Museum of Xanthi
  • Located in Xanthi, in traditional mansions.
  • It exhibits traditional costumes, textiles, tools, jewelry and objects of daily life of the region. Very good for a cultural / educational element in the group program.
